ASAD ABAD (SW): At least 15 pro-Daesh militants and three policemen got killed following deadly clashes in Kunar province’s Chambel mountainous area.
Some members of the local uprising force against the armed rebels informed Salam Watandar that the militants have overrun two of their check posts. Meanwhile, Ghani Musmim, spokesman for the provincial governor, has discarded the reports about fall of the check posts. Confirming the death of three policemen, he said 15 militants have been killed and 20 got wounded in clashes.
The spokesman said the security forces have been bravely fighting the militants, and if needed air support would be called.
Dr. Azizur Rehman Safi, head of the Directorate of Public Health, has said in this regard that the dead bodies of three policemen and 12 wounded persons, including a child, have been brought to the public hospital from the site of clashes. Locals, however, claim the clashes have also taken the lives of 6 civilians besides forcing many to flee homes.
This is the first assault of the pro-Daesh militants in Kunar’s Chambel area.
